Investing in our students: CNA Scholarship and Bursary Fund

Faculty and Staff Appeal

College of the North Atlantic is one of the finest educational institutions with an internationally recognized commitment to student success.

As members of the CNA community, we have always taken pride in developing student focused learning and work hard to ensure that CNA students feel we are their partners in achieving his or her goals.

And those goals are as diverse as our students. For too many, the goal is to stay in school: financial stress, family circumstances, and the realities of day to day that result in sacrificing those educational goals. Too often for our students, education is a luxury they cannot afford.

Your help with the CNA Scholarship and Bursary Fund will reward and reinforce our students’ commitment to their futures.

Your support will make a real difference. We will work to build a fund that will continue to award students long after we have retired from the College!

Please join us in creating the CNA Scholarship and Bursary Fund to help our students reach their goals.

Fill out the pledge card

Please take a moment to make a pledge. You can do this by printing and returning this form to the Alumni and Advancement Office.

Thank you for investing in our students.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I give?

Donating is simple. Just complete the pledge card that’s been mailed to you and fax, drop off or mail to the Alumni and Advancement Office

Where does my money go?

Your gift will support the CNA Scholarship and Bursary Fund. Every effort will be made to designate your gift to your campus but this will depend on the participation levels. Our goals are to build an endowment to enable us to offer awards in perpeuity and to have a fund to respond to immediate needs.

Can I change (increase, decrease or cancel) my pledge at any time?

Yes you can change your pledge at any time by contacting the Alumni and Advancement Office alumni@cna.nl.ca or 758-7515.

Will I get a tax receipt?

Yes all donations will receive a tax receipt. For one time gifts you will receive a tax receipt following your donation. For payroll deduction pledges, you will receive annual tax receipt at the end of the year.

Who will know I’m a donor?

The details of your pledge are held with the utmost levels of respect and confidentiality. When we end of the appeal we will list the names of donors on our website (but not the amount of your contribution/pledge). To be on this list is voluntary and you may wish to be excluded by checking a box on your pledge sheet.

As well, all donors will receive a small token of appreciation when they make a pledge so co-workers, family and friends will know that way if you choose to display it!

Am I ‘expected’ to give?

Of course not! All charitable donations are voluntary and we would never want you to feel as though you have no choice. The Faculty and Staff Appeal is providing an opportunity for us to give back and to invest in our institution and our students. We hope we can count on your support—your participation is very important to our success!

Why are you using penguins?

Because penguins are extraordinary! They possess unmatched focus, dedication, leadership and a sense of community. They represent the qualities and attributes our students and our college strive for!

Do other schools do this?

Yes! Universities and Colleges have been holding faculty and staff campaigns for many years.

How long until the scholarships are awarded?

The details around the awarding of the scholarships and bursaries will depend largely on the level of participation. We wish to build an endowment – but some of this will also support annual awards to meet immediate needs for our next academic year.

If you have any additional questions please contact the Manager of Alumni and Advancement at alumni@cna.nl.ca.

Thanks for your support!
