Employment Assistance Services Expanding to College of the North Atlantic

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour is undertaking a partnership with College of the North Atlantic to expand employment planning services to college campuses across the province over the coming months.

Employment Assistance Services are available at the department’s employment centres and help EI eligible individuals with job searches, resume writing, labour market information, as well as career and employment needs assessments.

The increase in capacity in services is being funded through federal contributions under the Labour Market Development Agreement.

There will be no disruption for existing clients as employment services are expanded to the college campuses. Individuals who are currently receiving employment planning will continue to do so with the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and the department will continue to be responsible for delivering employment services to Income Support clients and others who are non-EI eligible.

The expansion also aligns with the vision and goals of the Workforce Innovation Centre which is focused on identifying ways to better help people prepare for, find, return to, or maintain sustainable employment.”

“We are excited to partner with the Provincial Government on this initiative and fully support the expansion of Employment Assistance Services to College of the North Atlantic. Working with the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, we will develop a plan which will not only support individuals in their search for employment, but one that will see the delivery of these services strengthen our ability to connect to the labour needs of the province and the various industry sectors represented throughout.”
