College of the North Atlantic is committed to assisting you in your career decision-making process. Through its Access for Success (AFS) initiative, all students will participate in the following processes:

All applicants will complete three pre-enrollment assessments: Program Awareness Inventory (PAI), Partners in Education Inventory (PEI), and Academic Readiness (Accuplacer).
Program Awareness Inventory (PAI)
The purpose of the PAI is to provide you with more information about the college program. It is a college-developed career inventory that includes anywhere from 18-30 program-related questions (depending on the program). By completing this assessment, you will receive information regarding the career, what you will need to do to prepare for the college program, and what you can expect once you are an enrolled student in the program. Completion time for this assessment is approximately 20-25 minutes.
Partners in Education Inventory (PEI)
The purpose of the PEI is to provide you with information about your student success skills. It measures student perceptions in the following areas:
The assessment has approximately 50 statements which you rank in terms of most important to least important for you. Upon completion of the assessment, you will be provided with a report identifying possible student success concerns (from the list above) and the names of college professionals at the campus who may be able to offer you assistance in these areas. Completion time for this assessment is approximately 35 minutes.
Academic Readiness (Accuplacer)
The purpose of the Academic Readiness assessment is to provide you with information about you academic readiness for the college program. It will not negatively affect your application to the program. The assessment, called ‘Accuplacer’, includes sections in Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, and Mathematics. The level of difficulty in each of these sections is matched to the requirements of your particular program.
Completion time for the 'academic readiness' assessment (Accuplacer) is normally 1 to 2 hours.
All students enrolled in full-time programs at College of the North Atlantic will participate in the college’s academic advising process. Each student will be assigned an academic advisor (one of your program instructors) who will meet with you a specific number of times each semester to help guide you through the college experience. He or she is trained to advise you on college-related issues or to make mutually agreed upon referrals for you to other college professionals. College of the North Atlantic is committed to providing excellence in student services.
