College of the North Atlantic (CNA) welcomed students for the 2016-2017 academic year on Tuesday, September 6 with Fall Orientation 2016 – CNA: Where you CAN!

Orientation activities throughout the province include a broad list of events, with online contests via social media, open mic competitions, career fairs, Pokémon Go walks, and campus tours where students will be able to familiarize themselves with what their campus has to offer, just to name a few. Orientation activities will wrap-up on Wednesday, September 14, with each campus hosting a barbecue lunch with live entertainment.

CNA Senior Vice-President of Academics & Chief Learning Officer, Bill Radford, says a new academic year brings an air of excitement to the college.

“Each academic year brings an opportunity for students of all ages and educational backgrounds to define their futures,” said Radford. “Students come to the college with a goal in mind and first impressions go a long way in helping them to achieve those goals. That’s why we encourage our students to interact with one another during their first few days on campus.”

Fall Orientation 2016 is proudly supported by members of the provincial business community. This year’s Provincial Presenting Sponsor is TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, which as part of its involvement has donated 17 iPad Minis, one to be drawn for at each campus throughout the province. Leading Edge (Baie Verte and Port aux Basques), EasternEdge (Prince Philip Drive) and Reddy Kilowatt (Ridge Road) Credit Unions have joined in the festivities as Gold Sponsors at their respected campus, while the Coleman Group of Companies and NAPE (Local 7402) have come on board as Bronze Sponsors for the Prince Philip Drive campus. Many other local businesses have also supported orientation activities with donations of products and prizes.
