College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) School of Business and Information Technology has received recognition from the Accreditation Council for Business and Schools Programs (ACBSP).

The ACBSP is an international organization dedicated to improving the quality of business schools and programs around the world, and ultimately, to improving the practice of business in every industry around the world.

“I would like to acknowledge the excellent work that our instructors have been doing to contribute to our students’ educational experience,” said Mary Vaughan, CNA’s Dean of Business and Information Technology and incumbent chair of the Board of Commissions for ACBSP. “The quality education and practices that they provide our students is recognized by the students in their classrooms, the school, the college and our accrediting body, ACBSP. Many people often ask me how we manage to do this with so many campuses, and I respond that it is a result of the dedication from our faculty.”

In April, the Associate Degree Board of Commissioners for the ACBSP reviewed a quality assurance report from CNA and acknowledged the college’s business programs and outcome assessment process with a Best Practice Award.

“We were the only institution to receive this distinction in April from all the institutions that were reviewed, and we are receiving this distinction for the second time in a row. In fact, we are the only institution globally to receive this distinction!” explained Vaughan, acknowledging the quality of work done by CNA’s Accreditation Coordinator and Assessment Coordinators, and the school’s Assessment Advisory Committee.

“It is with these project management and continuous improvement practices, as well as the desire to improve our student’s educational experiences while supporting faculty that contribute greatly to our success. I am looking forward to the next stage of our accreditation process, re-affirmation in 2016, and working with such a great team!”
