College of the North Atlantic, in partnership with Douglas College in British Columbia and Fanshawe College in Ontario, is launching Career Start, a national wage subsidy program designed to assist post-secondary graduates bridge into high-demand career occupations.

In response to rising unemployment rates and skill shortages, the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy (YES) supports youth ages 15 to 30 years by offering employers the opportunity to offset training costs and provide work experience needed for successful transition from school to work. The Career Start program will match post-secondary graduates with full-time career related employment opportunities with a private sector employer.

“Career Start is a great opportunity for alumni to gain valuable work experience that will lead them into permanent employment,” said Trudy Barnes, the Prince Philip Drive Campus Administrator responsible for the program.
