Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic (CNA) are partnering to host the 18th annual Career and Graduate School Fair.

Employers, organizations, government agencies and post-secondary institutions from across North America will be at the Field House on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The two post-secondary institutions have collaborated for a number of years to offer a comprehensive career and graduate school event for students and alumni from both establishments. This is the first time the fair is being held under one roof.

This year, approximately 100 local, national and international exhibitors will be at the fair. A full list of exhibitors is available here.

New this year is the Graduate School Expo, in collaboration with Memorial’s School of Graduate Studies. At the Graduate School Expo, students and alumni will learn about graduate applications and funding and also have the opportunity to have their eligibility pre-assessed for graduate studies at Memorial. The full schedule is available online, along with a list of all post-secondary institutions.

The fair is open to all Memorial and CNA students and alumni who are looking to network with potential employers, searching for career direction or considering furthering their education.

Dr. Jennifer Massey, director of Student Life at Memorial University, says the fair is a networking event designed for students and alumni to make valuable career connections with employers and professional schools.

“The fair provides Memorial students and alumni with a wonderful opportunity to explore employment prospects and future academic options,” Dr. Massey said. “It also creates excellent opportunities for our students, new graduates and alumni to meet representatives from a wide range of organizations, associations, businesses and professional schools from across the province and the country.”

Elizabeth Chaulk, associate vice-president of Student Services at CNA, says the college is excited to be a partner in the fair and believes an event like this opens several doors for students and alumni that wouldn’t otherwise have been possible.

“The Career and Graduate School Fair is the perfect platform for current and former students to meet with major players in the labour market and industry professionals, as well as capitalize on prospects for continuing their education via graduate studies,” Ms. Chaulk said. “It is also a great opportunity for exhibitors and participants to demonstrate what they have to offer future professionals who are looking to enter the workforce. We are thrilled to be partnering in this worthwhile endeavour.”

Admission to the Memorial University and CNA Career and Graduate School Fair is free. Students and alumni are reminded they’ll be required to show their ID cards at the door.
