Stephenville, NL – College of the North Atlantic’s Qatar campus, CNA-Q, will be joined by a new executive member in the coming weeks. Norris Eaton was named Vice-President of Academics Friday by College of the North Atlantic President, Ann Marie Vaughan.

As CNA-Q’s Vice-President of Academics, Eaton will be responsible for the provision of leadership and direction in the development, implementation and evaluation of all academic programs, instructional policies, regulations, and procedures. The position also requires the incumbent to seek partnerships with external groups and stakeholders including strong ties to community, business, industry and government to help the campus achieve its strategic objectives and deliver on its educational mandate.

Eaton previously held the role of Vice-President of Engineering Technology at CNA-Q from 2002-2005; his latest role was the Dean of Industrial Trades for CNA, while previous roles at the college include Dean of Engineering Technology (Acting) and CNA’s Manager of Oil & Gas Projects.

“We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Eaton will be working in such an important leadership role at our Qatar campus,” said Vaughan. “His experiences at both campuses during his tenure with CNA have shown his ability to work with employees and the student body to develop and foster environments conducive to learning. He also has extensive experience working with our industry and government partners in the State of Qatar, which is a key component of this position. It was this combination of experience and corporate relations that lead to Mr. Eaton being the unanimous choice of the selection committee; a decision that was fully supported by the State.”

CNA-Q President, Dr. Ken MacLeod, also noted that Eaton’s academic, industry, and cultural experience would be of significant benefit to the role of Vice-President of Academics.

“Mr. Eaton’s prior experience working in Qatar provides him with insights that will help us align the programs of CNA-Q with the strategic goals of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy.

“Furthermore,” added MacLeod, “Mr. Eaton’s passion for student success and employee engagement make him a perfect fit for our leadership team.”
