The 2017-18 academic year is in full swing at College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) 17 campuses throughout Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), as thousands of faculty and students head to the classroom. Here, there is no mistaking the excitement at Placentia campus.

The 2017-18 academic year is in full swing at College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) 17 campuses throughout Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), as thousands of faculty and students head to the classroom.

During the month of September, new and returning students can participate in a variety of activities as part of Orientation 2017 –  themed “Your College, Your Future” – in order to familiarize themselves with their surroundings, as well as interact with classmates, faculty and CNA support staff.

Each campus in the province will host its own location-specific events, such as scavenger hunts, pizza parties and bonfires to name a few of the many activities, as well as province-wide contests for prize pack giveaways. Students and CNA staff are encouraged to explore and discover what their campuses have to offer. Orientation will conclude at most campuses Wednesday, Sept. 13 with a BBQ, CNA’s signature event, and a day of fun and fellowship.

Dr. Bill Radford, CNA’s newly appointed President and CEO, draws from his own vast educational and career experience and knows what it takes for student success.

“Every year we see students of all ages come together with a common goal in mind – successfully graduate from their respective programs to the best of their abilities, and ready themselves for future careers. It all starts here, and CNA is poised, as always, to take a leading role in making these goals possible. We are continuing to provide a number of initiatives to build on CNA’s strengths and make the students’ experience even more rewarding.”

CNA’s outgoing (Interim) President, Elizabeth Kidd, who has returned to her role as Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Operating Officer, says she is always excited when a new school year starts and 2017-18 is no exception.

“I want to personally welcome everyone back to a new academic year. I have seen a lot of fresh faces, and I know all of our campuses province-wide are abuzz with activity as staff and students settle in following what I hope was a great summer. Let us embrace the new academic year as CNA continues to make a difference in the lives of our students. I am so happy to have been part of this experience, and I wish everyone continued success.”
