DOHA, QATAR – Canada’s new Ambassador to the State of Qatar made her first official visit to College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q).

Stefanie McCollum, who was appointed to the position earlier this month, says, “I am very pleased as one of my first official duties, to be able to visit CNA-Q.I was extremely impressed by the vibrant campus community, and the state-of-the-art facilities that the college has to offer. Historically, the Embassy of Canada has had close ties to CNA-Q as the first Canadian post-secondary institution in Qatar, and that strong bond will continue under my leadership.”

Ambassador McCollum is a career public servant with a variety of management experience gained over 27 years.  She worked in the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Armed Forces, Secretary of State, Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs Canada in 2005. She has also led both the Management and Consular Services programs in Canada’s offices abroad in San Francisco, Cairo, Bucharest and Sao Paulo.

“I look forward to getting to know Ambassador McCollum, and strengthening the longstanding bond between CNA-Q and the Embassy of Canada,” said CNA-Q President Prof. Khalifa Al Khalifa. “As the Ambassador and I are both new to our roles, this first meeting was special for both of us.”

CNA-Q was founded from the vision of Her Highness Skeikha Moza bint Nasser to bring the best applied technical training through specialized classrooms and laboratories by the world’s best instructors. This year marks the 17th year that CNA-Q has been providing high-quality experiential technical education in Qatar to support the State’s strategic vision to educate, develop and retain young Qataris. The progress of the college has been impressive since its inception in 2002, with a record 2,500 student now enrolled this academic year. With over 30 programs offered in Business Studies, Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades, Health Sciences and Information Technology, the college has educated thousands of graduates who have populated the workforce in Qatar or pursued further education.
