Applied Research & Innovation

Dedicated to supporting local industry and community partners throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Where Innovation Meets Your Requirements

Supporting the Innovation Ecosystem

Welcome to College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) Office of Applied Research and Innovation (OARI)! Our office serves as CNA’s main point of contact for industry, community groups and government interested in applied research collaborations that support the development and growth of our industries and communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Based on over 110 applied research projects conducted over the last three years alone across multiple sectors, OARI has actively engaged its world-class terrestrial and airborne LiDAR (Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging), 3D mapping and hyperspectral assets and teams to advance a specialization in reality capture and digitization.

Through the Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA), and the Reality Capture and Digitization Technology Access Centre (RCD TAC) networks, the Office of Applied Research and Innovation has access to innovation supports in all sector areas through local, national and international relationships. We are always happy to act as a connector/conduit between our partners, bringing together the right people to ensure project success.

Your Reality: Upgraded

The RCD TAC stands as a beacon for fostering collaboration between academia and industry, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. With state-of-the-art technologies for 3D modeling like drones with remote sensing capability, let us elevate your project to new heights and propel your innovation forward.

What Are You Waiting For?

Supporting Graduates

OARI is committed to, and has established a track record of, hiring recent graduates to help them advance their careers either within the college or moving on to industry. Graduates taking on new jobs with industry help maintain and establish industry partnerships.
