Salary Information
CG20 - $38,693.20 - $41,969.20 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Food Service Worker will perform standardized food services work for College of the North Atlantic's Bay St. George campus by:
- Assisting with preparation work in the kitchen - chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and setting up food stations.
- Reheating and serving meals - safely reheat meals following food safety practices and present meals in an appetizing manner.
- Cleaning and sanitizing work stations - regularly wiping surfaces, sanitizing high-touch areas, ensuring that the kitchen meets food safety and occupational health standards.
- Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment - properly sanitize and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools.
- Operating a computerized cash register - process cash, debit, and credit transactions, and provide professional customer service.
- Other duties as it relates to food service may be required.
Screening Criteria
- Graduation from high school.
- Relevant experience working in an institutional and/or industrial kitchen.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the food service industry including food safety and sanitation.
- Knowledge of a computerized cash register/system.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Organizational/time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Communication skills.
Conditions of Offer
- When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
Conditions of Acceptance
- May require periods of kneeling, bending, walking and standing, which may result in fatigue; lifting and moving of objects; and occasionally using machinery and equipment.
- Shift work and weekend work is required.
