Salary Information
HL 21 - $74,093.00 - $96,321.00 per annum. Please note this position is currently subject to a classification review.
Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the Employee Relations Team, this position supports the overall organization by analyzing employee attendance patterns, identifying trends, and recommending strategies to reduce absenteeism and enhance workforce productivity. In collaboration with employees, managers and union representatives, the Consultant ensures attendance policies are applied fairly and consistently. Additionally, the role supports the disability management process on behalf of Human Resources, including accommodation assessments and the development of return-to-work/stay-at-work strategies.
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of attendance support activities related to non-medical workplace absences.
- Contribute to the development of accommodation plans and effective return-to-work or stay-at-work strategies as a member of the Disability Management Team.
- Manage a high volume of employee cases, from initial absence through successful reintegration to the workplace, following structured case management processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g. employees, union representatives, managers, employee relations, occupational health and safety) to enhance attendance and disability management practices.
- Support the resolution of issues between employees and managers regarding attendance or accommodations.
- Provide ongoing support to employees with accommodations, facilitate successful reintegration and sustained workplace participation.
- Analyze data and evaluate program effectiveness, identify workplace trends, and ensure organizational compliance with relevant policies, legislation and collective agreements.
- Develop materials and deliver training and information sessions related to attendance and disability management.
- Support other Human Resources functions as required.
Screening Criteria
- Degree in Human Resources, Disability Management, Psychology/Counselling, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Social Work or related field.
- Experience supporting attendance management programs or services.
- Experience developing or coordinating workplace accommodations and/or implementing return-to-work or stay at work strategies.
- Equivalences will be considered.
