Salary Information

CG37: $65,756.60 - $73,473.40 per annum. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer (BDO) is a key member of the Customized and Continuous Learning Division at College of the North Atlantic (CNA). The BDO promotes CNA's training opportunities, builds strong relationships with industry and community partners, and helps design and deliver high-quality, responsive learning solutions. Working with industry, government, community organizations, Indigenous groups, and the public, the BDO ensures CNA's programs align with current and emerging workforce needs:

  • Program planning and delivery: plan, coordinate, and oversee the development and delivery of customized training programs, ensuring high quality, strong performance, and a focus on cost efficiency and overall business competitiveness.
  • Needs assessment and market analysis: assess training needs by researching and analyzing labour market trends, and developing solutions to address skills gaps and support workforce development.
  • Proposal and funding development: research funding opportunities, prepare proposals, and help develop budgets and cost estimates for training programs.
  • Contract administration: manage training contracts from start to finish, ensuring compliance, tracking progress, reviewing deliverables, and keeping accurate records.
  • Promotion and Marketing: promote CNA's training services to clients through outreach, consultations, and presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Reporting and documentation: prepare reports and evaluations on training programs, outcomes, and finances, and keep campuses informed about program delivery.
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management: build and maintain relationships with industry, government, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to identify training needs, promote CNA programs, and support collaboration, with a focus on Labrador North Coast communities.
  • Community engagement: coordinate and oversee programs in Labrador North Coast communities, promoting respectful engagement and strong partnerships with Indigenous groups and community leaders.
  • Other related duties: perform additional duties as required to support the goals and operations of the Customized and Continuous Learning Division.

Screening Criteria

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related discipline (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Experience in business development, contract development, OR training coordination within a higher education or corporate environment.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of business development principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of designing and delivering effective presentations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to exchange information effectively.
  • Ability to manage time and tasks.
  • Professionalism.
  • Relationship building skills.

Conditions of Offer

Conditions of Acceptance

  • This position requires frequent travel to Labrador North Coast communities to engage with stakeholders, assess training needs, coordinate program delivery, and maintain strong community and industry partnerships.
