Salary Information
CG25 - $50,460.80 - $55,556.80 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Give individual support to students with documented learning needs. Help them adjust to college and succeed in their classes using strategies that fit their needs.
- With support from the Accessibility Services Coordinator, help set up and check academic accommodations and adaptations. Make sure students get support on time while encouraging independence.
- Teach students how to use assistive (adaptive) technologies, and help them feel confident using them. Examples include: speech-to-text software, screen readers, text-to-speech tools, smart pens, captioning tools, large-print or audio materials, and note-taking apps.
- Help with exams by supervising and making sure accommodations are used correctly. Solve problems such as room changes, computer issues, missing materials, or scheduling conflicts.
- Help students understand course instructions and class content. Support them in building study, time-management, and organization skills that work with their accommodations.
- Record student progress clearly and accurately. Adjust strategies when a student needs change.
- Refers students to counsellors, or other supports, for peer tutors and conflict resolution.
- Keep all student information confidential, including personal, medical, and academic details.
- Perform other related duties as needed to help create a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible learning environment.
Screening Criteria
- Diploma in Community Studies or a Certificate in Adult Education (Equivalencies will be considered).
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or diverse learning needs in an educational, community, or related setting.
