Salary Information

CG29 - $50,250.20 - $55,819.40 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance: set up and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals for faculty and staff; install and update software applications, operating systems, and security patches; and maintain and troubleshoot video conferencing equipment. 
  • Technical support and user assistance: provide front-line technical support to faculty, staff, and students regarding hardware and software issues; advise users on appropriate hardware/software solutions based on their operational and instructional needs; and assist with the deployment of new technologies.
  • Help Desk ticket management: utilize the College's designated helpdesk/ticketing system to log, track, prioritize, and resolve support requests; ensure tickets are accurately documented with appropriate details, actions taken, and resolutions; monitor ticket status to meet service expectations and escalation requirements; and contribute to accurate reporting of IT support activities and workload.
  • Audio/visual conference support: set up and operate audio/visual equipment for both onsite and remote presentations, events, and meetings; troubleshoot connectivity issues related to video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams; and ensure that projectors, microphones, speakers, and other multimedia devices function properly during events.
  • Network administration and security: monitor and maintain network connectivity; design, implement, and manage network architecture, including cabling, network switches, and security camera systems; and perform routine network performance testing and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs: diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware malfunctions, network failures, and software errors; perform minor repairs on devices; and support remote users by troubleshooting VPN connectivity, remote desktops, and mobile device access to College resources. 
  • Cybersecurity awareness: Reinforcing safe computing practices and educating users on common security risks in accordance with institutional policies.
  • User account and file management: configure, create, and maintain user accounts within the College's IT infrastructure; and ensure proper access controls and permissions are assigned according to the institutional policies. 

Screening Criteria

  • Diploma in Information Technology, or other computer-related field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Experience in a technical environment with a focus on troubleshooting and support.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems and networking principles.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, cloud computing and security best practices.
