Salary Information
CG19 - $37,965.20 - $40,968.20 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supporting both production staff of the kitchen and the Cooking and Baking programs, the Utility Worker I will:
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, including food preparation surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and disinfect kitchen floors and high-traffic areas to maintain a safe, hazard-free environment.
- Clean, organize, and maintain dry storage areas, walk-in coolers, and freezers to ensure proper sanitation and orderliness.
- Rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure proper inventory control and minimize waste.
- Assist with inventory tracking, including stock counts, recording usage, and reporting shortages or inventory concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support kitchen and culinary program operations.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of High School.
- Recent, relevant experience working in an institutional and/or commercial kitchen.
- Experience in kitchen janitorial duties (asset).
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and cleaning procedures for commercial kitchen environments.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles, including stock rotation methods such as First-In, First-Out (FIFO) (asset).
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize workload while meeting established deadlines.
- Professionalism.
- Relationship building skills.
Conditions of Offer

Conditions of Acceptance
- Performs heavy lifting, carrying, and movement of supplies, equipment, and food products as part of daily duties.
