Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Help build the future of Newfoundland and Labrador's mining industry.

As a Program Developer, you will work alongside industry leaders and subject matter experts to create innovative training solutions that address workforce needs and skills gaps across the sector. Your work will directly support the development of a skilled workforce and contribute to the continued growth of one of the province's most important industries.

  • Design and develop training programs that address current and emerging skills needs in Newfoundland and Labrador's mining industry, working closely with industry experts and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality, currency, and consistency within the curriculum.
  • Conduct needs assessments and facilitate curriculum meetings and focus groups.
  • Oversee course and program reviews and development.
  • Develop proposals and identify relevant learning resources.
  • Perform curriculum research and maintain documentation.
  • Manage articulation and transfer processes.
  • Engage in other aspects of curriculum review, design and development as identified or assigned
  • Supports accreditation activities, external and internal assessments.
  • Participates, and organizes program advisory sessions.
  • Employs the use of DACUM in program design.
  • Support School in government responses, audits, and regulatory process.
  • Supports special projects and school strategic initiatives. 
  • Creates and maintains school-based documentation repositories.
  • Promotes professional development and continuous learning opportunities. 
  • Other duties as required.

Screening Criteria

  • Bachelor of Education Degree combined with several years of relevant experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in a post-secondary college environment. 
  • A Master of Education (Asset).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of the principles of instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning and teaching methods, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging mining industry practices, technologies, and workforce needs to support current and future program development.
  • Knowledge of access and skills development programming for vulnerable or underrepresented learners, particularly those with literacy and numeracy issues.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exchange information effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with other faculty, industry and community partners.
  • Commitment to supporting and delivering a positive student learning experience.
