CG34 - $59,004.40 - $65,720.20 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Analyst performs a wide array of advanced financial analysis work in College of the North Atlantic's Accounting department:

  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), including the development of supporting schedules, reconciliations, working papers, and required disclosures.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of revenues, expenditures, and financial trends, including year-over-year comparisons, variance analysis, and assessment of financial performance across academic, administrative, and operational areas.
  • Conduct profitability and cost-recovery analyses for projects, contracts, and resale operations to support informed decision-making related to program delivery, resource allocation, and business initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, monitor liquidity requirements, and provide analysis to support effective treasury and financial management.
  • Monitor, track, and report on the College's annual capital expenditures, ensuring accurate recording, proper classification, and alignment with approved budgets and funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with managers and stakeholders across the College to provide financial guidance, interpret financial information, and support planning, budgeting, and operational decision-making processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors, government departments, funding agencies, and other stakeholders as required, responding to inquiries and providing financial information and analysis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the College's financial operations and strategic objectives.

     

Screening Criteria

  • Degree in Business Administration, or Commerce, with a focus in Accounting (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Recent, relevant experience in an accounting environment performing a variety of accounting functions.

  • Knowledge of accounting systems and software, including spreadsheets.
