Salary Information
CG29 - $50,250.20 - $55,819.40 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Library Technician IV is responsible for performing technical library work at College of the North Atlantic's Grand Falls-Windsor campus:
- Performs related library duties including reshelving materials and shelf reading to ensure books are shelved according to Library of Congress (LC) classification system.
- Catalogues, edits, and classifies library materials using a computerized library system.
- Creates and verifies author, series, and subject headings in accordance with established cataloguing standards.
- Searches and downloads bibliographic records from Library of Congress, Library and Archives Canada, and other online sources.
- Provides complex research and reference services by utilizing library resources and reference tools to respond to patron inquiries, support research needs, and provide guidance on research topics.
- Develops and maintains displays to promote library collections, services, and resources.
- Consults with the central librarian team regarding call numbers and authority records.
- Promotes awareness of library services and provides instruction and guidance to patrons in the effective use of library resources, including the library catalogue/discovery service and electronic databases.
- Assists patrons with accessing and using electronic resources and provides support in troubleshooting related technical issues.
- Conducts library orientations to familiarize patrons with library services, resources, facilities, and procedures.
- Perform other related duties, as required, to support the effective operation of the campus library.
Screening Criteria
- A Diploma in Library Studies, or related (equivalencies will be considered).
- Recent, relevant experience in a library setting performing a range of library services and functions.

Conditions of Offer
- When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.

Conditions of Acceptance
Occasional physical effort is required, including bending, kneeling, stretching, and working in awkward or confined positions when shelving and organizing materials. The Library Technician IV is regularly required to lift and move library materials, including boxes of books, up to 10 lbs on a constant basis and 10-25 lbs on a frequent basis.
