CG41 - $74,456.20 - $87,815.00 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Student Services and Supports, the Librarian III performs professional library work in managing a range of administrative and technical services within libraries across College of the North Atlantic:

  • Provides in-person and virtual reference support in a multidisciplinary, active teaching environment.
  • Oversees the deselection of materials to ensure collections remain current and relevant.
  • Analyzes user feedback, circulation data, and course curricula to identify collection strengths and gaps in collaboration with the User Services Librarian.
  • Consults with the Digital Services Librarian on overall collection management.
  • Selects and acquires library materials based on campus team feedback, user needs, faculty recommendations, and scholarly publishing trends.
  • Manages the provincial library services budget for acquisitions and develops and maintains collections aligned with the research and teaching needs of faculty and students.
  • Liaises with academic departments and faculty across campuses to identify current and emerging research interests.
  • Provides leadership on relevant consortial committees.
  • Develops guidelines and procedures in collaboration with the User Services Librarian and technical services staff.
  • Develops and manages policies and procedures for donated materials, liaises with potential donors, and assesses donations for collection relevance.
  • Performs other related duties, as required, to support the effective operation of library services.

     

Screening Criteria

  • A Master's Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science, or similar discipline (equivalencies will be considered). 
  • Recent, relevant experience in a library setting performing a range of professional librarian duties.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of library procedures and operations, including catalogue and classification standards.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and Library-related software.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Interpersonal skills.
