Strategies for Mindful Academic Readiness Training

This innovative three-Day online workshop will introduce participants to learning strategies based on mindfulness, wellness, and the power of positive thinking. Set yourself up for success and wellness as you start your chosen career program at CNA.

FAQs

Preparing new and returning students for CNA with the tools & skills they need to succeed. It is based on six modules that promote mindfulness and belonging, provides insights into both academic and non-academic supports, and a brief overview of the technology students will be required to use.

SMART is an acronym for Strategies for Mindful Academic Readiness Training

College E-mail and Microsoft Teams (computer, laptop or tablet. No phone). We encourage all participants to use Microsoft Teams by downloading it to you tablet if you are not using a computer or laptop.

It is part of our ongoing commitment to make sure every student is as prepared as they can be for post-secondary education. It’s the who, what, when, where, & how of CNA.

No. But all students are encouraged to participate as it provides benefits for both new and returning students.

No. We ask that you register for one of the offerings only and take in all three sessions.

No, (you complete Start SMART by attending the sessions).

We encourage all new students to participate fully in one of the offerings, however, we do understand that work and family commitments may interfere. In these cases, please make every effort to attend as much of the program as possible, and just let us know. The information you learn during the program will prepare you for a successful transition and studies at CNA. There will not be any other sessions after these offerings.

Many students enroll is Stay SMART (10 Sessions over Fall & Winter semesters). The Stay SMART program offers core skills, better known as soft-skills, that compliment the technical skills learned in your program. The sessions are based on what types of skills that employers are looking for when they hire graduates.
