Farrell named Director of Programs

May 15, 2002 - Pamela Walsh, President of College of the North Atlantic, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cyril Farrell to the position of Director of Programs.

Cyril began working with the provincial college system in 1975 at Baie D’Espoir. Since then, his career path has taken him in many directions and locations. Cyril has served as an instructor, Supervisor of Instruction, campus Principal, Director of Instructional Services, acting President, consultant for Industrial Training, Executive Director of the Council on Higher Education, District Administrator for Central, and Director for the Qatar project. He holds an Education Degree from Memorial University, a Diploma in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University, and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education from the University of New Brunswick.

Cyril has been (or is currently) involved on a number of committees, both internal to the college and to the external community. He has been a member of the Applied Arts and Health Science school teams, the Management Classification Committee, Human Resources and Finance and Administration teams. Externally, he has served as a member of the Central Region Management Committee for the Canada /Newfoundland Labour Market Development Agreement representing the education sector, and with the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor Economic Development Committee. He also worked closely with the Exploits Valley Economic Development Corporation on projects that support sector development in the region and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the Central West Health Corporation.

Outside of his career with the college Cyril, along with his wife Sheila, has been involved with several other entrepreneurial ventures since 1983. Cyril and Sheila have two children, Lee, 23, and Lindsay, 15.
