Building Service Worker Program (12 Weeks)

The Building Service Worker program is a highly interactive 12-week program designed to provide sector-specific janitorial and cleaning services training to participants interested in pursuing work in the field. The program offers job specific and work readiness training and skills. It offers participants the opportunity to learn and develop both in the classroom and on the job. This program consists of:  Personal Development  Building Service Worker Training  Work Exposure and Job Development Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to: 1. Employ the interpersonal skills necessary for success in both work and school. 2. Develop a career and job search portfolio based on self-reflection and identified goals. 3. Demonstrate the self-confidence and the sector-specific skills necessary for success in further training and employment. 4. Earn up to four Adult Basic Education credits, which can be applied as High School General Electives credits.

Hobby Welding

NC3696 • 30.00 hours

This Hobby Welding course introduces participants to the methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures necessary to build their own welded projects. Throughout the course safe and proper use of equipment is stressed, as participants will learn about the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the welding machines for SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW and the associated hand tools commonly used during welding. By the end of the course, participants will learn skills and techniques necessary to build their own projects at home. Participants will have the chance to learn by observing each other and through their own practical application. This approach not only accommodates individual preferences but also enriches the learning experience by exposing students to multiple processes. The students will also be given the option to build a predesigned project from a set of ready-made designs provided by the college. (40 Hours) (Lecture 10/Lab 20)
