Food on the Move Program Assistant (Internship)
Food First NL and Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador are partnering to employ a Food on the Move Program Assistant for a 12-week internship with Food First NL. This role will be based in St. John’s and supporting the activities of Food on the Move, a pop-up grocery store social enterprise. The Job
The Food on the Move Program Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:
? Assist with acquiring food items from retailers and wholesalers. Help to select, load and unload, and safely handle purchased food.
? Assist with hosting Food on the Move pop-up markets at community centres, Memorial University, Food First NL locations, and other sites as required. This would include setting up and taking down the tables, signage, and products, interacting with customers, and processing transactions using cash and a Square POS system.
? Participate in Food First NL and Food on the Move promotional and outreach activities, including putting up posters, distributing print materials, contributing to development of social media and newsletter content, attending community events, giving presentations, etc.
? Participate in efforts to maintain safe food handling and storage at all times.
? Participate in Food on the Move planning, administration, and evaluation activities including attending relevant meetings.
? Participate in orientation with Food First NL and Conservation Corps of NL. Participate in Food on the Move training. Participate in professional development on topics such as equity, food safety, and social enterprise.
? Participate as a member of the Food First NL team and contribute to communications, evaluation, human resources, planning, and reporting activities of the organization as requested.
? Act as a representative of Food First NL and Food on the Move at meetings, on committees, at events, and potentially with the media, as requested.
? Other duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
This position requires some physical labour. The intern must be able to safely lift up to 50lbs and complete some repetitive tasks like placing produce into bags.

? You are able to get around St. John’s to multiple locations for work activities. All locations are on Metrobus routes.

Compensation and other Details
Wage: $24.20/hour
Position Type: Full-time, temporary. This is a Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador internship. The intern will be employed by CCNL and placed with Food First NL.
Hours: 35 hours/week. Mostly during business hours but occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
Internship Period: June - September (12 weeks)
Public Holidays: Up to 5 paid public holidays during the internship period depending on start date.
Leave time: 4% vacation pay provided and unpaid vacation days available as requested and approved by a supervisor. Sick and personal leave days available as needed.
Location and Transportation: You must be located in St. John’s and be able to get around St. John’s to multiple locations for work activities. All locations are on Metrobus routes.
Work Environment: This position requires some flexibility. You will be working from a combination of locations including from home, at community sites, and at the Food First NL office. This position requires a reliable home internet connection; a monthly stipend is available to assist with home internet and phone costs.

This is the entry level position for the M/LWD (Measurement/Logging While Drilling) job family. Candidates must posses STEM degree or diploma and a full class 5 (non graduated) Canadian driver’s license. This is a field position based out of our Nisku Alberta shop. Field personnel are expected to live within 1 hour drive of the shop.
Under strict supervision, provides on-site supervision of the Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD) process, including tool preparations, data acquisition, log generation and Quality Control (QC) and delivery of the services to the customer. Responsibilities are to learn the job role for the LWD service line. Serves as a third man in a sub-ordinate role. Provides technical and operational expertise to external customer. Performs assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering and measurement while drilling principles. Maintains equipment inventory and supervises movement to and from well site. Check equipment and advises repair requirements. Maintains computer database for on-going jobs, prepares job ticket, daily reporting, and end-of-well reports. Skill acquired through completion of the basic M/LWD training program. Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to required standards. Must possess good communication, arithmetic, data entry and recording skills. Requires ability to read and interpret formation well logs and interpret directional survey information and other well site data.

Internship Position: Rockcut Marketing and Research Assistant
The Town of Twillingate is an incorporated municipality with a population of approximately 2200 residents. The purpose is to provide municipal services to residents and businesses. Primarily a fishing community, the Town of Twillingate has a strong tourism economy. Goals are as follows: Protect environmentally sensitive and significant areas; Enable a healthier community; Support improved reliability and capacity of municipal services; Preserve and enhance the community's character and identity; Develop community capacity; Expand local economic opportunities.
The Town of Twillingate is in the process of developing and expanding the Rockcut Twillingate Trails. The 55+ km trail network will circumnavigate Twillingate Islands. This position will aid in providing the necessary support to market these trails as world class hiking, and promote the trails as a green space to be enjoyed by the community and visitors alike. The assistant will curate a strong social media presence to promote the trails to visitors, boost brand awareness, and advertise products that support the trail. They will map existing and planned trails for 2024/2025 to create gpx files that will be beneficial in providing current up to date information on trail routes for locals, tourists, hiking enthusiasts, and ultra runners. This position will also participate in conducting research into flora, fauna and geology and archeological data comparison that will be used to create interpretive signage along the trail. In depth research will also be conducted on the historic and archeological background of key areas.
Activities and responsibilities will include:
? Using social media to build brand awareness, promote the trail and associated products. This will include research, content creation, data monitoring and user engagement tracking
? Mapping of the trails to create gpx files. Comparing these mapping data with archeological and historical background data to determine interpretation opportunities and to note sensitive areas
? Research into several branches of information that will be used to design interpretive signage
? Documenting significant areas, flora and fauna along the trail via photograph, video and other methods as needed
? Engaging with local stakeholders to create partnerships that highlight the goals and mandate of the trails committee
? Maintain merchandise inventory
? Other duties as required
Position is for 12 weeks starting on June 3rd
Rate of pay: $19.00/hr for 35 hours per week
Qualifications
? Realistic weekly/monthly goals will be determined based on the background/experience of the successful applicant if funding is received
? Strong work ethic, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
? Superior verbal and written communications skills, fluency in English
? Ability to manage priorities and balance workload
? Outgoing personality and comfort in engaging community stakeholders. Community relations experience will be considered an asset
? Experience creating social media or knowledge of public relations and promotion
? Marketing experience will be considered an asset
? Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and virtual meeting software
? Experience reviewing literature and/or researching specific topics
? Physical ability to hike long distances
? Enrolled in a post-secondary institution
Additional Considerations
? Access to own laptop and home office with internet is required
? Access to a vehicle with proper insurance is necessary for the position. Travel will be reimbursed when required to travel for work purposes.
