Colleges and Institutes Canada

SkillShift

Country: Mongolia

Partner(s): Olds College

SkillShift-01 is a TVET reform project supporting the development and pilot testing of six National Vocational Qualifications in priority sectors including forestry, meat and dairy processing, fruit and vegetable production, hotel services, renewable energy, and agrotechnology. The project works with Mongolia's Ministry of Education, the National Centre for Education Accreditation, labour and social protection authorities, three pilot polytechnics, and employers to align occupational standards, co-design competency-based curricula and assessments, strengthen quality assurance, and prepare the system for broader national rollout.

Empowerment Through Skills Program (ESP-03)

Country: Mongolia

Partner(s): Norquest College

ESP-03 is a Tanzania-focused skills development project supporting alternative pathways to education, employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship for women and adolescent girls through Folk Development Colleges in the Tabora and Kagera regions. The project works with these colleges to develop community and industry-responsive short courses, strengthen competency-based curricula and teaching materials, build instructor and institutional capacity, expand employer and community engagement, and improve gender-responsive delivery and student supports.

Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training (KBEST-03/04)

Country: Kenya

Partner(s): Dalhousie University, Georgian College

KBEST 03/04 is a blue economy TVET systems-strengthening project focused on harmonizing and developing Occupational Standards in Kenya's priority subsectors (fisheries and aquaculture, hospitality and tourism, and shipping and seafaring) and the development of a National Short Course Guideline. Working with TVETA, Kitale National Polytechnic, Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, CDACC, and the Kenya Maritime Authority, the project supports the mapping of existing standards, identification of gaps, development of new standards where required. The project also supports other KBEST institutional partnerships by sharing approved standards, guiding alignment of curriculum to those standards, and advising on conversion courses, short courses, partial qualifications, and micro-credentials for broader rollout across Kenya's blue economy training system.

Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training (KBEST-11)

Country: Kenya

Partner(s): Dalhousie University

KBEST-11 is a Kenya blue economy skills development project that supports capacity building for vocational training centres (VTC) to deliver competency-based training linked to blue economy opportunities in coastal and Lake Victoria regions. KBEST-11 is working with two partner VTCs to launch blue economy courses in the areas of pastry, accommodations, and refrigeration and air conditioning, while also strengthening local relationships, community knowledge, and implementation readiness for future training delivery.

Joint Education Partnership

Mianyang Polytechnic

Country: China

This is a long-standing joint education partnership under which Mianyang Polytechnic delivers CNA's Civil Engineering program in China. The partnership has been in place since 2014 and was renewed through 2029, with CNA continuing to support program quality through curriculum oversight, teaching materials, faculty input, and quality assurance. Graduates who complete the program and meet the English language equivalencies may pursue further education in Canada or with other CNA partner institutions, creating an important academic progression pathway.

South Africa Skills Training Enhancement Program (SASTEP-04)

Country: South Africa

Partner(s): Mohawk College

SASTEP-04 is a TVET capacity-building project in South Africa focused on strengthening institutional readiness for effective partnerships, work-integrated learning, and applied research across TVET institutions in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo provinces. The project supports training and systems development that improve TVET teacher capacity, strengthen industry engagement, expand workplace-based and experiential learning opportunities, and promote safe, sustainable, and equitable participation through shared protocols, digital resources, and evidence-based implementation.
