CNASU stands for College of the North Atlantic Students’ Union
Each campus elects a local Student Representatives Council (SRC) at the beginning of each academic year (election times may vary, depending on the campus). The SRCs play an integral role at each campus and online by elevating the student voice. SRCs have been fundamental in initiatives such as offering health and dental to students, installing water filtration systems province-wide, advocating for student rights, and representing students on committees at each level of CNA. Also, SRCs are vital in offering student engagement activities throughout the year including important holidays and days of recognition. It’s an opportunity for students to create engaging activities to support their student body on campus or online. Each SRC is supported by an advisor, which is usually the Student Development Officer at the campus.
CNASU is the provincial student governing body that is comprised of a student representative (usually the President) from each of the 17 local SRCs. Members of the CNASU are involved in discussions that impact policies and participate in high level conversations with the CNA Executive and Board of Governors. The CNASU supports activities of the local SRCs and is a part of the Canadian Federation of Students.
Students are encouraged to become involved in student leadership and have a voice in the decisions that influence their educational experience at CNA.
