About

Channel-Port aux Basques campus of College of the North Atlantic is located in the Southwest corner of the island, a historically rich community of approximately 4,000 residents. The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques is the Gateway to the Island of Newfoundland and is connected to mainland Canada via the Marine Atlantic Ferry Service.

For over 55 years, Port aux Basques Campus has dedicated itself to providing the highest quality of training and academic upgrading to the residents and businesses of the area.

For up to date information through social media, like and follow our Facebook page.  This site is quite active and contains current and relevant information for both new and future students.

The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques website will provide you information about the amenities in the area.  The Town boasts a fabulous sports centre, Bruce II Sports Centre, which is equipped with a swimming pool, ice arena, bowling alley, fitness centre and curling rink – all under one roof and within walking distance from the campus.  We are also home to Grand Bay West Beach - a beautiful, sandy beach that has a trailway winding along the coast and great for walking/running.

For those of you new to the area our weather can be entertaining.  The Fall temperatures are pretty mild, but by mid-November you know winter is on the way!  Bring warm, winter clothing with you.  It does snow here.  We guarantee that hats, gloves and winter boots and coats will be very much appreciated in February….perhaps even in November.  We get a lot of wind, and some rain, all year long and with no public transportation available, you will indeed want that protection provided by a warm coat and waterproof boots.

Hi everyone! Welcome to College of the North Atlantic – Port aux Basques campus (CNA-PAB). My name is Samantha Allen and I am your Student Development Officer (SDO). As part of our Student Services team, I am your point of contact if you have any questions or concerns, or if you just want to have a chat about what you would like to see happen at your college.

In addition to our fantastic programming options, we have some fantastic resources to support students. These include personal skill development seminars, peer tutoring, counselling, accessibility services, linkages with financial support (Student Aid, sponsorship), student council and various campus-based activities to lift your spirits and make lifetime friends. As a student at CNA-PAB, you will be part of our campus community and know that our whole team is here for you.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Also, feel free to connect after the open house by email at samantha.allen@cna.nl.ca. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, and I wish you success in your plan for post-secondary studies.
