College of the North Atlantic (CNA) is pleased to open applications for a funding opportunity designed to reduce financial barriers for students participating in unpaid work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences.
Through support from Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada, CNA will administer the
One at a Time: Reducing Barriers to Work-Integrated Learning program. This initiative provides eligible Canadian students with a one-time, $1,200 lump sum stipend to support unpaid placements during the 2025 Spring/Summer or Fall semesters.
“Work-integrated learning helps bridge the gap between classroom and career by offering students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in meaningful, hands-on ways,” said Ashley Nguyen, CNA’s Director of WIL Connections. “This stipend ensures more students can take advantage of these valuable experiences, regardless of their financial situation. It reflects our commitment to accessible, applied education and to ensuring all students can thrive through hands-on, career-relevant learning.”
Eligible WIL opportunities may include field placements, work exposure courses, applied research projects, and community service learning. These experiences are an integral part of many CNA programs and play a key role in developing real-world skills, strengthening industry connections and supporting student success.
Application deadlines are as follows:
- Spring/Summer semester: Applications are now open and close August 15, 2025
- Fall semester: Applications will open early September and close December 5, 2025
Students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and enrolled at CNA during the term of their unpaid WIL experience.
