Form follows function

Design is everywhere from the moment we wake up until we close our eyes at night. Not just beautiful art, graphic design has purpose – to communicate clearly, shape experiences and inspire action across print, screen and motion.

In this two-year Graphic Design diploma program, you will develop strong visual problem-solving skills while mastering industry-standard tools for branding, typography, layout, illustration, user experience, motion graphics and digital content creation. Through studio projects that mirror real briefs, you will learn to research, ideate, prototype and refine design solutions that tell compelling stories for clients and communities.

Graphic designers work across identities, packaging, publication design, web and app interfaces, social media campaigns, environmental graphics and short-form motion content. You will explore this full spectrum, from traditional print production to motion and video-based design, preparing for roles in agencies, in-house studios and freelance practice.

Working in collaborative, studio-style classes, you will receive regular critique from instructors with industry experience and connect with industry. You will build a professional, multi-platform portfolio that includes branding systems, user interface mock-ups, motion pieces and campaign work that reflect your unique creative voice.

It’s your future by design.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Studio-based learning: Project-driven courses in typography, branding, layout, illustration, user experience and interface design, and motion graphics that connect design theory with real-world briefs.

  • Hands-on industry experience: Applied projects with external partners, community organizations and industry events that build confidence and professional networks.
  • Creative collaboration: Opportunities to work with other CNA arts programs (e.g., Applied Music, Journalism, Sound Recording & Production, Television and Film programs, and Textile & Apparel Design) on cross-media storytelling.
