Purpose:
We are seeking a part-time supervisor from the College of the North Atlantic (CNA) to
mentor a team of five high school students participating in our Team Broken Earth project through
the TechNL program. This supervisor will play a crucial role in guiding these students' contributions
to project areas including but not limited to VR testing, AI training data review, community outreach,
and literature review.

Project Brief: The ABBBBA Project, funded by ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. and led by Team Broken
Earth in coordination with Bluedrop ISM, aims to develop and implement a scalable training solution
for healthcare and other personnel in remote/rural Newfoundland and Labrador, addressing a critical
need for accessible healthcare training in underserved communities. A part-time supervisor will be
essential to ensure the effective participation and learning of high school students (Grades 10-12)
sourced through TechNL’s High School Tech Immersion Program. These students, coming from
diverse backgrounds across Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), will contribute to project areas
including VR testing, AI training data review, literature review, UI/UX feedback, community outreach,
and documentation. This project offers a unique opportunity to engage youth in STEM and
contribute to improving healthcare access in remote regions across NL.

Responsibilities:
? Mentorship & Guidance: Provide regular mentorship and support to student contributors,
fostering their learning and development in STEM fields.
? Project Oversight: Oversee the student contributions to specific project areas, ensuring
tasks are completed effectively and to a high standard.

students troubleshoot challenges.
? Communication & Coordination: Facilitate communication and collaboration among
student contributors, project team members, and community partners.
? Training & Skill Development: Guide and train students on relevant skills, such as
research methodologies, data analysis, and communication.
? This may include workshops, one-on-one sessions, or connecting students with
relevant resources.
? Progress Monitoring: Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback, and ensure that
project milestones are met.
? Reporting: Contribute to project reporting by summarizing student contributions and
highlighting key learnings.
? Ethical Considerations: Ensure that all student activities are conducted ethically and
following relevant guidelines.

? Current Student/Recent Graduate of CNA: Enrolled in a diploma or degree program at the
College of the North Atlantic (CNA), or a recent graduate.
? Preference will be given to students/graduates in fields related to healthcare,

management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
? Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant technologies and software tools related to
the project areas (e.g., VR, AI, data analysis).
? Commitment to Community Engagement: A demonstrated commitment to community
engagement and a passion for supporting youth in STEM.
